The esteemed keynote speaker was the first woman director in 105 years of the Zoological Survey of India, Dr. Dhriti Banerjee.

Dr. Banerjee was always in love with science and keen to study something beyond medicine. She picked zoology as it allowed her to study biology and genetics, her two favourite subjects. She has worked for most of her life on ‘true flies’ as she was fascinated by the role they play in legal investigations.

She spoke about the importance of preserving our biodiversity and encouraged our young learners to take on the mantle of being its custodians. She also enlightened us on the invaluable work ZSI has been doing in conserving our faunal heritage.

A truly inspiring address!
